Happy Birthday to me (nearly)

What joy to have the unique opportunity to explore solitude on one's birthday! What personal insights a quiet, meditative birthday is likely to bring- surely the greatest gift I could ask for! What responsible fun to have an entirely sober birthday spending quality one-on-one time with my cat! And so on, and so forth.

So... no company, no party and no champagne, but I guess dolling myself up a little and baking a cake isn't out of the question. I'm doing a lot of cooking experiments!

I can share some little "gifts" with you, too- things that are helping me that I hope you will enjoy too :)

🍰 For body: this amazing carrot cake recipe that I used to bake a huge pile of moist, delicious cupcakes that lasted a surprisingly long time in the fridge. I used warmed coconut oil in place of vegetable oil and it worked very well :)

I keep reminding myself that this too shall pass and I then will be able to spend time with all my favourite people again, doing our favourite things- maybe even before the year is out. Who knows?

As I mentioned in a previous blog, I am tentatively booking in future dates, although now I am going to say for 1st September onwards, with a 50% deposit and the promise that we can postpone if we need to (it rather hinges on when the hotels and restaurants re-open, as much as anything else).
