A weekend at home.

Hey everyone, hope you're all not freaking out too much over the second wave! I'm feeling a lot calmer about it all than I was the first time around, although I must admit, I have already bulk-bought some pasta, tins, noodles and so on... I am running dangerously low on Crystal Skull vodka, though!

Anyway...

I've had a very pleasant weekend in the country, enjoying the last warm days of the year, playing golf, picking my own apples in a sunlit orchard, and tracking down a casual neighbourhood restaurant (ew) that actually does really good food (yay!).

Golf time!

Apple-picking.

An idyllic afternoon in a sunlit orchard.

My haul from the orchard.

Goat's cheese baked with black pepper and walnut starter was delish!

I wish I could capture how good this creamy dill linguine smelled! The salmon was smoked right there in the restaurant. So good!

I don't normally bother with dessert unless it's something involving coconut and/ or a little unusual. This ticked both boxes. A really firm and unbelievably scrumptious coconut mousse drizzled in raspberry and passionfruit. Who knew that some fairly humble "casual dining" restaurants made food like this?! Not me.

Other interesting developments (for me)... Dita has finally released her hat collection in collab with a company called Hood London, which is amazing, although sadly quite a lot more expensive than I had been expecting. On the plus side, having added some pieces to my wishlist, I explored the rest of the site and found this beautiful fascinator that I actually could afford, so they are handmaking me one now and I expect to have it in time for December celebrations!

I spent Friday night watching the extended cut of This Is Paris with some friends, popcorn and cosmos. Who would have thought in a million years that Paris Hilton could be relateable?! We really enjoyed it. The first half was your typical "behind the scenes of my everyday life" type thing, then suddenly it became an exposé of the "troubled teen" industry in America, which I had never even heard of, but apparently it's this fairly common thing where parents pack off their naughty kids to these sadistic boarding schools that are part youth prison and part One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest to basically break their spirits and stop them rebelling any further. There were several people featured in the film who had been to these "schools", including Paris, and all of them now traumatised adults, of course. More about that here, if you're interested, and I'll just finish this post with a trailer for the movie.
